Avon Public Schools will be closed Friday due to inclement weather conditions. That is Avon's seventh school cancellation this year. The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory and hazardous weather outlook in the region. "Untreated roads will become snow covered and slippery," the weather service said on its website. The heavy, wet snow and strong winds anticipated could cause power outages, the weather service's website states. Up to 5 inches of snow is expected. The weather advisory will last until 1 p.m.
