Avon PD Collecting Unwanted, Expired Medications Saturday

The initiative is part of National Drug Takeback Day, a nationwide program urging folks to safely dispose of unwanted medicines.

AVON, CT — Local police are urging folks to clean out their medicine cabinets and to rid themselves of any unused and/or expired medicines.

As part of National Drug Takeback Day, the Avon Police Department will be at the Avon Senior Center, 635 West Avon Road, on Saturday, April 26.

They will be there from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. to collect old, expired, or no longer needed medication people might want to dispose of safely.

This nationally recognized initiative provides a safe, convenient, and responsible method for disposing of unused or expired prescription medications.

The program also raises public awareness about the potential for prescription drug misuse and the environmental hazards of improper disposal.
