Families Invited To Celebrate New Playground In Avon

The event will take place on Friday evening at one of Avon's recreation areas.

AVON, CT — There's a new playground in town and Avon's parks and recreation department is inviting the community to come celebrate the grand opening of it on Friday, June 9.

That's when the town will cut the ribbon for the new Sycamore Hills Playground, which is located at the Sycamore Hills Recreation Area, 635 West Avon Road.

The event will take place from 5 to 6:30 p.m.

As part of the ribbon-cutting ceremony, the town is inviting families to bring a picnic and enjoy the company of other families, play games and enjoy music at the site.

In addition, there will be a Good Humor ice cream truck on site with sweet treats available for purchase.

The new play area was funded by a federal Urban Act grant and administered by the state Department of Energy and Environmental Protection.
