Firefighters Respond Quickly: Avon Local Heroes

AVON, CT — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. Together with Ring, we’re working to let all your neighbors know about these outstanding people and their stories.

This submission comes from Deborah Bouchard who nominated five firefighters with the Belltown Fire Department.

Relationship to nominee: Called the fire dept and 5 firemen responded.

Reason for recognition: My elderly neighbor was returning home from her daughter’s after being there 6 months. I’m a neighbor. His daughter came by the unit to clean up before she brought her mother home. The smoke detectors were going off for hours. called the firemen, they came.

One thing to know: They came quickly and checked everything to make sure there was no electrical problems.
