Giving Tuesday is a global initiative that brings people together to harness the potential of collective generosity. Fortunately for folks in the Avon area, there’s no shortage of organizations nearby that could greatly benefit from your support.

Here are five outstanding organizations in the Avon area. Please consider volunteering or donating to them for Giving Tuesday and beyond.


  1. The Avon Land Trust — The Avon Land Trust preserves and protects undeveloped land in Avon to enhance the town’s environmental and historic resources. They also provide public access to parks and trails for public enjoyment of nature, and to promote the conservation of open space, an appreciation of nature and stewardship of the environment.   2. The Avon Historical Society — The Avon Historical Society identifies, collects, preserves, and promotes the history and heritage of Avon. Gifts of Love — Gifts of Love helps meet the basic needs of individuals and families in the greater Hartford area experiencing a short-term financial crisis so they can return to self-sufficiency. Cornelia de Lange Syndrome Foundation, Inc. — The Cornelia de Lange Syndrome (CdLS) Foundation is an Avon-based, national organization that provides help to families and professionals caring for individuals with CdLS, a genetic disorder that causes a broad range of potential physical, cognitive and medical challenges. They host meetings and conferences where researchers and families can meet to exchange information, and act as a facilitator between families and professionals, utilizing a team of professionals who lend their expertise to those caring for an individual with CdLS.
