New Book Featured At Children's Hiking Trail In Avon

AVON, CT — A local hiking trail that aims to combine both physical and intellectual pursuits for children has a new feature.

Called "Blazer's Trail," the special hiking trail is located behind Roaring Brook Elementary School in Avon, 30 Old Wheeler Road.

The gentle, half-mile trail features a children's book that is posted on signs throughout, so families and their children can read the book as they go along on a hike.

Recently, the town announced that a new book has gone up called "Old Rock" by author Deb Pilutti.

"Old Rock has been around a long time, but he proves to his forest friends that he has had quite an adventurous life in this fun and exciting book," wrote the town in an announcement."Please enjoy the trail outside of school hours. Blazer’s Trail committee puts up a new book every few months, so be sure to check it out all year."
