Police Continue Investigating Threats Written in Avon High School Bathrooms

More than a month since written threats were found in two Avon High School bathrooms, police are still searching for the culprits.

The criminal investigation is still active, according to Lt. Kelly Walsh, Avon police spokeswoman, but she stressed that the vandalism did not cause an immediate threat.

The threats school officials discovered in late January "were directed at school staff, destruction of school property and racial and anti-Semitic epithets," Avon Police Capt. Jeffrey Blatter previously said in a written media statement.

No arrests have been made at this time, Walsh confirmed.

Avon Superintendent Gary Mala said that the school district has not received an update on the police investigation.

After the incident, school leaders requested police presence at the school for the whole school day, but Mala said that officers are no longer stationed at the high school.

On a separate note, in light of the Newtown school shooting in December, Avon Police Officer Mark Vess is in the process of doing a security assessment of each Avon school.
