Popular Avon Hiking Trail Has New Children's Book To Read
The caretakers of Blazer's Trail at Roaring Brook School recently announced that a new book now adorns the trail book feature.
AVON, CT — When the weather finally cooperates (and it will), families looking for a nice hike with their children will also be able to enjoy a new children's book on display at a popular local trail.
Town officials recently announced that a new book is on Blazer’s Trail, which is located at 30 Old Wheeler Lane, Avon, at Roaring Brook School.
Trail books are, simply, a series of displays featuring pages of a children's book at regular trail intervals.

The goal is to have young children eagerly hike from page to page, suddenly finding themselves enjoying a hike and a book.
"In this beloved modern classic, a young boy’s missing mitten sparks a delightful winter journey," wrote the town.

Blazer's Trail is a half-mile loop trail in the back of Roaring Brook School, with hiking welcome outside of school hours.
Trail users are reminded to respect the trail and leave no trace of their visit.
The town offered a special thanks to the Roaring Brook School PTO for helping to fund this ongoing project.
