'Supporting People With Cancer': Avon Local Hero

AVON, CT — When times are tough, heroes emerge. We all know someone who's making a difference right now as we live through unprecedented and changing times.

Here at Patch, we've launched an initiative to help recognize these heroes making a difference in their communities. Together with Ring, we’re working to let all your neighbors know about these outstanding people and their stories.

This submission comes from Jennifer Simon who nominated Marie Gonzalez of Avon.

Relationship to nominee: Neighbor and board member

Reason for recognition: She has dedicated herself to helping support people with cancer for several years now and started a not for profit and without making any money.

One thing to know: Marie is dedicated to supporting people with cancer so they know they’re not alone and have resources from the start of cancer diagnosis.
