"Tick-associated diseases, mainly Lyme disease, are increasing, new diseases are being discovered, and various tick species are expanding their geographic range posing an increasing risk to the public," wrote the library in an announcement.

Retired Connecticut entomologist Kirby Stafford will cover ticks, tick-borne disease incidences, and basic tick biology as well as review various environmental methods for tick-bite prevention and tick control.

Stafford, a medical-veterinary entomologist, is the former chief scientist of the Connecticut Department of Entomology and State Entomologist.

He retired in 2022, as an emeritus chief scientist after 35 years researching ticks, tick-borne diseases, and tick management strategies.
