When Is Next Hazardous Waste Collection?
Now that Avon has opted out of the Metropolitan District Commission program, residents will bring their hazardous waste to a new collection site.

Avon town officials anticipate that the next hazardous waste collection date will be in August.
Now that Avon is no longer participating in the Metropolitan District Commission's collection program, residents will likely be bringing their hazardous waste to Simsbury's Department of Public Works facility at 66 Town Forest Rd., according to a press release from town officials. Collections will likely be semi-annually in the fall and spring starting in 2014.
Town officials made the decision in February to collaborate with Canton, Simsbury and Granby on putting out a joint request for proposal for a new contractor.
