Abercrombie Hopes To Keep Momentum Going In Hartford
Democrat accepts nomination, endorsement for seat in 83rd Assembly District.
State Rep. (D-Meriden, Berlin) has had a great relationship with fellow state Rep. (D-Berlin, Southington), so it made sense the two would share the spotlight of receiving their nominations and endorsements for the 2012 election.
Abercrombie claimed her seat in 2005 in a special election. She is currently the vice-chair of the Appropriations Committee and also serves on the Government Administrations and Elections Committee and The Public Health Committee.

"When I first was elected I was really lucky that Joe embraced me," said Abercrombie, who with re-districting will now cover 20 percent of Berlin instead of 30 percent in the 83rd Assembly District. Aresimowicz will now represent 70 percent of Berlin.
"We really work well together. I will be supporting him for Majority Speaker. One of the things that works well is that we are on different committees and we fill each other in on what is going on so we don't miss anything."

Abercrombie hopes to continue serving Meriden and Berlin, saying there has been much accomplished but much still to do.
"We have done a lot with redevelopment in downtown and its issue with flood control," she said. "We have refurbished most of the bridges in town and the is getting going. We were also able to get some brownfields money because we have a lot of small industrial buildings in the city and that builds up over time.
"We have work to do on the redevelopment and the train station. The state is hoping to make Meriden a hub station and a multi-transit center so that we have bus and rail. I also sit on a lot of nonprofits, especially anything to do with kids and autism are near and dear to my heart. I try to help point the nonprofits in a direction that will help with their fundraising."
Republican Pablo Soto has been selected to run against Abercrombie.
