Update: Berlin 10s Continue To Win

They are now in the Championship Game Saturday night.

 

UPDATE: Berlin 10-year old District Team beat Edgewood tonight 16-2 to advance to Championship Game on Saturday. The team scored 16 runs in 27 At-Bats.

The Berlin Little League 10-Year-Old All Stars advanced to the District 5 cross-over by winning their pool with a 5–0 record.  The 10s beat Forestville 14–1 on Saturday and topped Edgewood 7–6 on Sunday in a dramatic victory.

Giancarlo Tufano, Kevin Dunn, and Tommy Hyjek combined in the pitching effort to hold Forestville to one run in Saturday’s win. Tufano started off the game pitching 2 1/3 innings and striking out four to get the win. Hyjek and Zach Murray led the 10s from the plate with a combined five hits and eight RBI.  With a 2–1 lead heading into the top of the fourth inning, Berlin scored 12 runs to put the game away.

Tyler Lappe, Jeff Kuzoian, Hyjek, Alex Halkias, and Daniel Veleas split the pitching duties during exciting win over Edgewood. Veleas got the win going the final 1 1/3 on the mound. Kuzoian went 2 1/3 while striking out five batters.  Hyjek had two hits and Lappe drove in two runs to lead the Berlin hitters.

Down 6–5 in the bottom of the last inning, the 10s scored two runs including a great hustle play by Murray score the final tally.

Berlin's 10 year old All Stars won the first round of the crossover playoffs 18-8 over Southington South. Berlin will play Edgewood Tuesday at 5:45 at McCabe Waters in the winner's bracket of the tourney.

Berlin beat Edgewood Sunday night in a dramatic bottom of the sixth comeback. The Berlin - Edgewood rivalry has been heating up ever since last year's crossover game in the then 9-10 division.

The Berlin 11's wrapped an undefeated pool play Monday night with a 24-0 win over Jack Berry. The Berlin squad starts their crossover play on Thursday night against town of Berlin rival New Britain at 5:45 at Southington West.

Berlin's 12 year olds dropped their game against undefeated Southington North Monday night and were eliminated from the tournament.
