Berlin 10s Improve To 3-0 in District Pool Play.

Local fall behind by five runs but come back for win.

 

The Berlin Little League 10-Year-Old All Stars (10s) continued their winnings ways with victories over Southington North and Plainville in District pool play.  The wins bring their record to 3–0 with upcoming weekend games against Forestville and Edgewood of Bristol.

Tyler Lappe threw 4 1/3 innings on Sunday to get the 11-5 win over Southington North.  Lappe also contributed at the plate with three hits, including a two-run double in the fifth inning. Zach Murray also belted three hits while scoring twice. Timothy Heinke, Giancarlo Tufano, Kevin Dunn, and Tommy Hyjek each contributed key multi-base hits.

After falling behind by five runs in the top of the first, Berlin battled back to claim a 12-7 victory in Tuesday’s matchup against Plainville.  Alex Halkias weathered the first inning storm and pitched four strong innings while giving up only one additional run in the fourth inning. 

Dunn came in to close out the game for the final two innings.  Hyjek got the rally started for the 10s with a three run home run in the second inning. Jeff Kuzoian, Danny Lynch, Daniel Veleas, and Matt Czerepuzko each reached base safely to start the five-run fourth inning that pushed Berlin ahead for good.  Veleas, Murray, Lappe, and Heinke each had two hits apiece.
