Berlin Football Coach Suspended

In the wake of a recruiting scandal, the coach will not be on the sidelines for the season finale.

Berlin High football coach John Capodice has been suspended and will not coach the Redcoats’ final regular-season game against New Britain on Friday night.

Superintendent of Schools David Erwin made the announcement Thursday, according to The Courant.

It was on Thursday that the school was sanctioned by the Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference (CIAC) for the self-reported incidents of Capodice recruiting four football players from New Britain who were found to be ineligible to play on the Berlin team.
