Berlin HS Football Coach Recruited Out-of-Town Players: Report

The Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference is investigating allegations of possible recruiting violations.

Berlin High School football coach John Capodice reportedly recruited players from neighboring New Britain, allegedly found housing for one family and promised another player a Division I college scholarship if the student switched teams, according to The Courant that obtained records via the Freedom of Information Act.

The newspaper also reported Monday that “an investigator spent more than a week tailing one Berlin football player in the morning, watching him as he was driven from his home in New Britain and dropped off, day after day, at Berlin High School.”

The Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference is investigating allegations of possible recruiting and residency violations in the Berlin football program.
