Berlin PD to Honor Fallen Officer Jeffery Casner

The Berlin Police Department Honor Guard will commemorate the 32nd anniversary of Jeffery Casner's death in the line of duty on May 16.

From the Berlin Police Department: The Berlin Police Department Honor Guard will be laying a wreath on the grave of Officer Jeffery Casner to commemorate the 32nd anniversary of his death in the line of duty. Officer Casner was struck and killed by a drunk driver who went off the roadway on the Berlin Turnpike on February 2, 1985. This ceremony is held annually to pay our respects to our fallen brother and his family.

The ceremony will be held graveside at Maple Cemetery at 0900 hours on Tuesday May 16, 2017. Following the ceremony, the recipient of the 2016 “Jeffery Casner Award” for excellence in DUI enforcement, will be presented with the award. This year’s recipient is Officer Thomas Blake with 8 DUI arrests. This represents 19 percent of the total DUI arrests made by the Berlin Police Department in 2016..
