Berlin Police Will Honor Fallen Officer With Annual Wreath-Laying
Next week, police will lay a wreath on the grave of Officer Jeffery G. Casner, who was killed in the line of duty 37 years ago.
BERLIN, CT — The Berlin Police Department has set a date for its annual wreath-laying at the grave of Officer Jeffery G. Casner.
The public is invited to attend the ceremony, which will take place at 9 a.m. on Wednesday, May 18 at Maple Cemetery (1164 Worthington Ridge, Berlin).
A wreath-laying is held each year in honor of Casner, who on Feb. 2, 1985 was killed by a drunk driver while he was directing traffic at a car crash on the Berlin Turnpike, police said.

This year marks the 37th anniversary of his death in the line of duty.
"This ceremony is held annually during law enforcement week to honor our fallen brother and pay respects to his family," the Berlin Police Department said in a news release.
