Berlin voters will go to the polls on Tuesday, May 27, to decide town/school spending after the budget was rejected on April 29.
BERLIN, CT — Voters will head to the polls Tuesday to again vote on proposed budgets for the town/schools for 2025-26.
The second budget referendum comes after voters shot down a combined $106.62 million budget on April 29, forcing another attempt.
This vote will take place from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. at Berlin's polling sites, which are:

While this is the second vote, the budget is mostly unchanged from the one rejected last month.
The spending package was decreased slightly from last month, and the tax impact was lessened, albeit slightly as well.
According to the latest budget numbers, the spending plan is:
• A $106.57 million combined town/education budget, which was $3.8 million or 3.63 percent larger than current spending. ($54.57 million education budget; $52 million town general government budget)
As for the tax impact, the spending plan will require a 30.66 mill rate, which is 0.45 mills larger than the tax rate paid last year.
For a home assessed at $350,000, the new mill rate translates into a $157.50 increase on their tax bill.
The budget rejected last month had a mill hike of 0.47 mills, meaning this same homeowner is going to save $7 in the annual tax bill from this second budget compared to the first.
