Berlin Voters To Decide Two School Appropriations
A special town meeting is slated for Tuesday, July 8, to appropriate money to fix facility issues at Berlin High and Griswold Elementary.

BERLIN, CT — Voters have some work to do regarding local schools, with a special town meeting slated for Tuesday, July 8, to appropriate significant funds to fix building issues at two of them.
The special meeting will take place Tuesday, July 8, at 6:45 p.m. in the Berlin Town Hall Council Chambers, 240 Kensington Road, Berlin.
There, electors and voters will meet to decide appropriations for issues at Berlin High School as well as Mary E. Griswold Elementary School.

The first item of business is a $164,748 non-budgeted appropriation to replace floor tiles at BHS.
These dollars are left over from the recently completed fiscal year's capital non-recurring fund for 2024-25, requiring town meeting approval to move the funds.

BHS' floor tiles are experiencing moisture problems, which is leading to the development of mold, which can be a health hazard.
The other item of business is a $1 million appropriation of the town's surplus to pay for HVAC upgrades at Mary E. Griswold Elementary School.
The special town meeting will take place before the Berlin Town Council's regularly scheduled meeting at town hall that same evening.
