CT's Beloved Turtles Topic Of Berlin Program

The Berlin-Peck Memorial Library Monday, May 12, is hosting a turtle expert/rehabilitator who specializes in helping the aquatic reptiles.

BERLIN, CT — One of the most cherished sights wildlife lovers enjoy is a turtle sunning itself on a bright spring/summer day.

The Berlin-Peck Memorial Library on Thursday, May 8, is hosting a program capturing the essence of that vision, along with a lesson or two about how these beloved creatures can recover from injury.

Located at 234 Kensington Road, Berlin, the library is welcoming a wildlife expert and turtle rehabilitator for a program called "What Is Turtle Rehab?"

She is the founder of Turtle Haven, whose mission is to help Connecticut’s native turtles through conservation, education, and rehabilitation.

Guests will learn what goes into saving the lives of "our shelled friends" when they get hit by cars or are found otherwise in distress.

Guests will also be able to meet some turtles and learn how they can help them survive the human-altered habitats they must now live in.

This talk will include photos of injuries of real turtle patients, which may be too intense for young or sensitive attendees.
