Fire Damages Berlin Home

There was a large volume of smoke, fire when the Berlin Volunteer Fire Department arrived at the scene.

The cause of a late Friday night fire that damaged a Wildem Road home remains under investigation, according to the Berlin Volunteer Fire Department.

According to the department, fire companies were dispatched to 80 Wildem Rd. shortly after 11 p.m. Jan. 29 after receiving calls that there was a fire that started in the basement of the two-and-a-half story home.

When firefighters arrived , they found a large volume of smoke and fire in the basement and first floor, according to information posted on the department’s Facebook page. Firefighters from Newington, Cromwell, Rocky Hill, and Wethersfield also responded and then provided town coverage while Berlin firefighters remained at the fire scene.

The fire is under investigation by the town’s fire marshal.
