In Memoriam: Ralph J. Simeone
The lifelong Berlin resident passed away March 7 at the age of 90.

Ralph J. Simeone, 90, passed away peacefully on Monday, March 7, 2016 surrounded by his loving family.
He can now be reunited with the love of his life,his wife, MaryRose.
He leaves behind his five children, Tony and his wife Mariann, Guy and his wife Susan, Ralph Jr., Elizabeth Simeone Carfi, and Renee McGivney. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, Sara, Gina, Brian, Michael, Christopher,Devon,Samantha and Harmony. Ralph also had four great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his grandson Blake.
He graduated from Berlin High where he was a two sport athlete in Basketball and Baseball. He continued his love for sports by coaching his sons in Little League and American Legion. Ralph was a World War II Navy Veteran who served two tours - The invasion of Normandy at Omaha Beach and participated in the Pacific Theater as a gunner's mate in Okinawa.
He was a lifelong member of the Berlin community where he served on the Water Commission for many years and was an active member of the Knights of Columbus and VFW. In the early 1970s he started his own business, Simeone Sand & Gravel. Through his construction business he met his best "buddy" Mike Horbal. Together they attended many a Red Sox game, told more stories and argued like an old married couple. Ralph loved playing setback games with his family and friends.
We will miss him dearly.
Calling hours will be held Thursday from 4 to 6 p.m. at Brooklawn Funeral Home, 511 Brook St., Rocky Hill.
The family would like to thank Ledgecrest Health Care Center in Kensington for the special and wonderful care he received while he was there. Also, thanks to the Masonicare Hospice staff for their attention and kindness.
