In Memoriam: Theodore S. Hrubiec

Condolences to his family and friends.

Theodore S. Hrubiec of Kensington, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family, Thursday, February 25, 2016. He is now united with his beloved wife, Helen.

Born in New Britain to the late Wincenty and Stanislawa Hrubiec. He was a resident of Kensington for over 78 years. He was a member of Saint Paul’s Church, a 3rd & 4th degree member of Chapter 1508 of The Knights of Columbus, Life member of the Elks Lodge 957 and The Berlin Lions Club.

His true love was for farming. He attended New Britain and Berlin Public Schools a graduate of Radcliffe – Hicks School of Agriculture, University Of Connecticut (1947) Degree in Horticulture. Ted owned and operated Hrubiec’s Blueberry and Christmas Tree Farms, which is still in existence 65 years later. From 1971 to his retirement in 1990 he was employed with the Town Of Berlin retiring as Superintendent of Public Grounds.

Ted leaves behind his three children. Barbara and Vincent Rinaldi, Kathleen and Kenneth Scappini and Theodore and Mary Beth Snowden Hrubiec, three grandchildren, Heather, Andrew and Elizabeth. Three great grandchildren, Sarah, Jesse and Bella.

The family would like to give a special thanks to his caregivers Halina and Aneta.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, March 1, at 10:30 a.m., at the Berlin Memorial Funeral Home, 96 Main St. Kensington followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:30 a.m. at St. Paul Church 485 Alling St, Kensington. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in New Britain. Friends and family are invited to call at the funeral home on Monday, February 29, from 4 – 8 p.m.
