UPDATE: Motorcycle Crash Victim Seriously Injured
Police said Chamberlain Highway will remain closed while they continue their investigation.

BERLIN, CT - A portion of Chamberlain Highway will remain closed Thursday afternoon as the Berlin Police Department continues its investigation of a serious motorcycle crash.
The crash occurred at approximately 12:34 p.m. Thursday in the area of 1606 Chamberlain Highway, according to police.
A motorcyclist was northbound on the Chamberlain Highway when the vehicle went off the right shoulder of the road and crashed.

The operator sustained serious head injuries and was taken by Lifestar helicopter to St. Francis Hospital, police said in a statement issued at 2:32 p.m.
Police said Chamberlain Highway will be closed for the next hour or two while the investigation continues. Detours are set up at Orchard and Southington roads.
The Mid-State Accident Reconstruction Squad is assisting in the investigation. The crash was witnessed and witnesses are cooperating with the investigation.

A motorcycle crash has closed Chamberlain Highway between Southington Road and Orchard Road Thursday afternoon, according to a Berlin Police advisory posted via Twitter.
The announcement came just before 1 p.m.
