The Acura then collided with a guardrail on the left shoulder of the highway and then went through the guardrail, police said.

It then entered the grassy median, where police said the Acura flipped over before coming to an "uncontrolled final rest on its wheels in the grassy median."

The Toyota, police said, ended up in a "controlled final rest" on the right shoulder of Route 9 and its operator was not hurt, declining medical care at the scene.

The driver of the Acura, police said, "sustained suspected serious injuries" and was rushed to Hartford Hospital for treatment.

Anyone who may have witnessed this collision or may have camera footage of the vehicles is asked to contact Trooper Michael Dean at Troop H in Hartford at 860-534-1098 or through email at michael.dean@ct.gov.
