The Berlin Girls Golf team rebounded nicely after a tough loss to Farmington last Thursday defeating Newington 165-208 at Timberlin Golf Course. The Lady Redcoat's season record improves to 12 wins against 1 loss.

Berlin's number one player, freshman phenom Julia Kemmling, continued to amaze by carding a one-over par 37 which included a hole-in-one on the difficult 135 yard, par 3 12th hole. Kemmling hit an 8 iron to the tough, back right pin placement to record her first ever ace. Kemmling's 37 was also good for match medalist honors, her ninth of the season.

Senior Co-Captain Emily Stickel shot an excellent round of 40 while Emily-Anne Deutsch and Victoria Fagan added solid rounds of 42 and 46 respectfully. The Lady Redcoats score of 165 marks the fifth time this season that the team has shot in the 160's.

"The girls came to play today," Berlin coach Jim Barnes said. "It was a damp, wet day but we still shot a great score of 165 on Timberlin's tough back nine. I know we are all still smarting a little from our loss at Farmington last week but realize we get another crack at them on the 30th. Playing like we did today is a good sign that we will be ready.

"And what about this Kemmling kid? Just when you think you have seen it all she pulls more rabbits out of her golf bag of tricks. This time a hole-in-one and a one over par 37? The team was so happy for her. It was great to see."
