Brookfield scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning and then scored one more in the eighth inning or a Class L state tournament 3-2 walk-off victory.
Berlin took a 2-0 lead in the top of the first inning on a two-run double by Katherine Burek.
The Redcoats had chances to add to their lead but never scored another run after the first inning.
The ending was a heartbreaker for the Redcoats.
With two outs and two strikes, Brookfield's Angelina Pollen stroked a double. She scored on Danielle DeMarco's RBI single. DeMarco moved up to second base on a slap on a hit and run by Jessie Angelo. With runners at first and second and Berlin leading 2-1, Felicia Lennon hit a hard ground ball to short but the throw to second sailed into the outfield as DeMarco came all the way around to score the tying run.
Berlin didn't threaten in the top of the eighth and Brookfield quickly loaded the bases. A long fly ball would score the game-winner and Brookfield advanced to the Class L quarterfinals against Torrington.
Harris finished with six strikeouts.
"You need to get 21 outs, not 20," Berlin coach Jason Pires told The News-Times of Danbury. "We scored two runs with one out in the first inning and we didn't score for the rest of the game. We had plenty of opportunities, we just didn't get the hit."
BASEBALL

The Redcoats did not score until the fifth inning when Daren Grabowski, who walked, scored on an error.
In the sixth inning, Colin King had an RBI single but Berlin could get no closer.
