In 2024, Branford Police Raised More Than $100K For Special Olympics

BRANFORD, CT — It's a very big deal.

The Branford Police Department is the first in the state to have raised nearly $105,000 for Special Olympics, it posted to Facebook. $104,820.02 to be exact.

"With the incredible support of our generous sponsors and our community, Branford Police raised OVER $100,000 for Special Olympics Connecticut in 2024! We are the first Connecticut police department to achieve this milestone, and we could not have done it without all of you!"

Police noted that department liaisons, Detective Josef Herten and Officer Joseph Harrington worked "tirelessly and diligently" to fundraise and organize our Tip a Cop event at Lenny's Indian Head Inn.

"Year after year, these two officers continue to raise the bar, and we are so proud of all they do," police wrote on Facebook.

In 2024, the department celebrated its 30th Annual Tip-A-Cop. In their post they share a video highlighting some of the past years.

"Thank you to everyone who dined, donated, and made this milestone so special. Your generosity is changing lives," police wrote.
