3 Straight Seasons Undefeated, WIS Girls Hockey Team Plays Year-Round
"This team has so much talent, natural athletic ability, and they are mentally tough:" WIS girls' hockey head coach Kristin Liguori.

BRANFORD, CT — This isn't the first time. Nor the second. It's the third straight season that the Walsh Intermediate School girls' field hockey team, under head coach Kristin Liguori and assistant coach Rudy Gosteli, has been undefeated.
And that's no mean feat. Plus, the team is an honorable one.
"Our team prides themselves on the integrity of our team, and how we conduct ourselves on and off the field," Liguori said. "This team has so much talent, natural athletic ability, and they are mentally tough."

The team is led by tri-captains Ellie Meyron, Laila Keziak, and Tessa Keating.
Meyron and Keating led the team in goals and assists, while Keziak was one of the top defenders, "not allowing opponents to get near the goalie," Liguori said.

Goalie Jetta Bozzi, who is only a 7th grader, made very few saves do to the "strong wall of defense in front of her and her communication to help make them effective," the head coach noted.
The Hornets played 11 games with only two goals scored on them, and in every game they played, they had more shots on goal than their opponents, Liguori said.
The team, coach Liguori said, plays "pretty much all year round." And now that its fall season has ended, the winter indoor season will begin.
In summer, the team still gets together and is involved in clinics through the Branford Recreation Department, and they play in the Nutmeg State Games.
"We truly believe that our program is so successful because the athletes have the opportunity to play year round," Liguori said.
