BRANFORD, CT - The town of Branford would receive $40,000 less in state aid next year than this year and $64,000 less in fiscal year 2021 under the two-year budget proposed by Gov. Ned Lamont on Wednesday.

Even though the town would receive more overall aid, a new plan that Malloy unveiled in which towns would share in the cost of teacher retirements would eat into the money Branford received.

Under Malloy's plan, Branford would be responsible for more than $200,000 of teacher retirement costs next year and double that the year after.
