Branford Scouting (Cub Pack 633, Troop 633/1633 & Venturing 633)

Branford Scouting has been building citizenship, leadership skills, and a spirit of adventure in youth for over 10 years, serving ages 5–20 through four dynamic programs. Through experiential learning, Branford scouts experience adventures from ice climbing to sailing in the Florida Keys, with campouts all year round for our older scouts. Our commitment to country is reflected in where we meet—serving our veterans at Branford’s VFW Post 12106—and through meaningful experiences like our recent trip to Washington, D.C., where scouts participated in the Changing of the Guard at Arlington National Cemetery and presented a wreath in honor of our fallen heroes. Our younger Cub Scouts also demonstrate patriotism by marching in parades and placing flags at cemeteries, just like their older peers. They enjoy fun and discovery at weekly meetings and through memorable outings, such as an overnight at the Norwalk Maritime Center, sleeping aboard the World War II battleship USS Massachusetts, and exploring the EcoTarium museum. This year, our Cubs will experience an evening at the New England Air Museum. Branford Scouting services the town of Branford and well beyond. BRANFORD, CT - A 58-year-old New Haven resident was killed today after a forklift fell on top of him at a business on North Main St. in Branford. Branford police are saying the unidentified man was transporting the machine on a flat bed truck at Whip-It Tire &amp; Auto Repair, he stopped to put air in the truck's tire and had to adjust the position of forklift on the truck when it fell off the truck and landed on top of him. Branford Officers are investigating. Occupational Safety and Health Administration officials have been notified and are on scene. The victim's name is not being released at this time pending notification of next of kin.

A 58-year-old New Haven man was killed at a Branford workshop today when a forklift toppled over on him, police said.
