BRANFORD, CT —In August 2024, Alex Palluzzi Jr., announced he was retiring from the Branford Department of Parks and Recreation after 50 years of service. He officially retired at the end of December. But it wasn't like he was going far. A beloved Branford fixture, he's around town as if nothing had changed. But it has.

He was the recipient of myriad accolades and awards, the proverbial cherry was likely receiving the prestigious Distinguished Service Award, bestowed on Palluzzi by the Connecticut Recreation & Parks Association for his outstanding contributions, over a significant number of years, to the recreation and parks field.

And now, a party to celebrate his decades of service to the town and community is set for Saturday. The Palluzzi retirement party will be held April 19 at Owenego, 40 Linden Ave., in Branford, from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.
