📰 News we're reading

• 41st Annual MLK Breakfast At Branford High School Features Civil Rights Attorney Preston Tisdale As Speaker (patch.com) — Branford residents are invited to the 41st annual MLK Day Breakfast at Branford High School on January 19, featuring civil rights attorney Preston Tisdale as keynote speaker. The long-running event, co-hosted by Branford Public Schools and the MLK Heritage Foundation, offers a full breakfast, student-prepared food and music, and a community-focused celebration of Dr. King’s legacy.

• Branford High School's new roof could include solar panels to save on energy costs (nhregister.com) — Branford High School’s roof will be replaced this summer, and officials are weighing whether to add solar panels through a Connecticut Green Bank agreement that could cost the district nothing upfront. If approved, the panels could save Branford schools tens of thousands of dollars a year on electricity at the high school and potentially Francis Walsh Intermediate, but the Board of Education must decide later this month.
