Plans For Vacant East Main Regal Cinemas Site Tabled, Perhaps For Now

BRANFORD, CT — It was curtains for the now-former Regal Cinemas in January 2022. Then, in July 2023, a developer, CP Branford LLC, proposed a plan to redevelop the large East Main Street site.

The plan called for a variety of uses including a large apartment complex, self-storage business, a retail use and a medical clinic, records from the Branford Planning and Zoning Commission show.

Now, following a couple of public hearing postponements in the past month, the plans, including a master and site plan, subdivision plan and grading plan, were withdrawn at the PZC April 18 meeting.

But, as has been reported, it's expected the developer will return with revisions.

A Patch call to the attorney representing CP Branford LLC, John Knuff, for comment on the status of the plan, was not immediately returned.
