Arson A Likely Cause of Bridgeport Subway Fire: Report

The downtown Subway location has been reduced to ash and debris early Monday morning.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — Fire officials told franchise owner Dino Sakakini that a fire which burned down his Subway sandwich shop downtown Monday morning was likely an arson, reports the Connecticut Post. The downtown sandwich shop on the corner of Main and John streets was closed at the time of the blaze.

Sakakini told the Post that the fire started in trash bins that employees put outside after their work shifts. Another small fire had been started on the other side of the street.

The franchise owner told the newspaper he plans to rebuild the shop, but that it could take months and his employees will be out of work.
