Bridgeport Guidance Counselor Killed In Crash: Report

BRIDGEPORT, CT — The Bridgeport school community is mourning the death of a guidance counselor who was killed in a crash on the Merritt Parkway, reports the Connecticut Post. Jordan Soares, 27, was assigned to the Claytor Academy and Columbus School, and was a site coordinator for the city's Lightouse Program.

Superintendent Aresta Johnson called the death unbelievably tragic, and the district assigned social workers and school psychologists to all three schools including the Bridgeport Military Academy.

He is also the son of Dee Soares, a principal of the Bridgeport Military Academy.

State police say Soares was a passenger in a 2013 Infiniti that rolled over and ejected all of the occupants.
