L'Ambiance Plaza was a 16-story residential project under construction in Bridgeport, Connecticut at the corner of Washington Avenue and Coleman Street. On April 23, 1987, 28 workers were crushed to death at the site of the L’Ambiance development due to faulty lift slab construction. The L'Ambiance Plaza collapse was one of the worst disasters in modern Connecticut history. Every year, organized labor, family members and friends have gathered to remember and pay tribute to the workers who died, the families, the rescue workers and all those who assisted in any way during and after the collapse.
