Apartment Fire Displaces Nearly A Dozen In Bridgeport: FD (patch.com) — Bridgeport residents are coping with the aftermath of a Saturday afternoon apartment fire on Pembroke Street that displaced 10 people and a dog but caused no injuries. Firefighters quickly knocked down the third-floor blaze, while the American Red Cross is helping affected tenants as the Bridgeport Fire Marshal’s Office investigates the cause.
   

2. Bridgeport councilwoman sues to invalidate voter-approved ballot questions to change city charter (ctpost.com) — Bridgeport residents may see their recently approved city charter overhaul challenged in court, as Councilwoman Maria Pereira has filed a lawsuit claiming the revision process was illegal. The suit targets how the charter commission was formed, vetted and approved, and seeks to void the voter-approved changes affecting ethics rules, hiring practices, and elected positions like city and town clerks.
   

3. Jury finds Bridgeport man guilty of murdering 28-year-old woman in 2024 (wtnh.com) — A Bridgeport jury has convicted 35-year-old Terence Gallimore of murder, assault, and firearm charges for an August 2024 shooting near Stratford and Carroll Avenues that killed 28-year-old Brandaja Winston and injured another man. Investigators say the victims likely weren’t the intended targets, and a second shooter remains at large. Gallimore faces up to 90 years, with sentencing set for February 23, 2026.
   

4. Waterbury woman gets 7 years in federal prison for violent 2023 carjacking (registercitizen.com) — A Waterbury woman has been sentenced in Bridgeport federal court to just over seven years in prison for her role in a violent 2023 carjacking. Prosecutors say Emily Rodriguez and others tracked down a wrongly suspected theft victim, assaulted him with an assault-style rifle and other weapons, stole his vehicle and belongings, and later harassed the victims online.
   

5. Baby Monkey Becomes Top Banana At CT's Beardsley Zoo In Bridgeport (dailyvoice.com) — A new black-handed spider monkey was born just before Christmas at Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo in Bridgeport, and visitors may already spot it clinging to its mother. Zoo staff are asking guests to keep voices low and give the pair quiet time during visits. The zoo on Noble Avenue remains open daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
