Bridgeport Man Fought Through Taser During Struggle: State Police

Police say the man was walking in the breakdown lane on I-95 before an encounter with troopers turned aggressive.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — A city man walking on I-95 became aggressive with police before he was arrested Monday afternoon. Travis Simmons, 34, was seen walking in the shoulder of I-95 just south of Exit 27 and became aggressive and non-compliant with state troopers who were dispatched to the scene, according to state police.

Simmons fought through a taser and began to struggle with troopers, police say. One trooper suffered minor injuries during the struggle.

After being transported to Bridgeport Hospital, police found Simmons was out on probation.

Simmons was charged with interfering with an officer, reckless use of a highway by a pedestrian and violating conditions of his release.

He was unable to post the $10,000 bond and transported to Bridgeport Correctional Center, and was due in court Tuesday at 9 a.m.
