Farm Stand Opens For 5th Season At Bridgeport Hospital
The stand, featuring fresh fruits and vegetables from Smith's Acres, will run Thursday afternoons from 3:30 to 5:30 pm starting July 11.

BRIDGEPORT, CT — For the fifth year, Bridgeport Hospital is helping to bring fresh produce to the community with its weekly Farm Stand. The stand, featuring fresh fruits and vegetables from Smith’s Acres, will run Thursday afternoons from 3:30 to 5:30 pm starting July 11.
“We know that food insecurity is a big issue in our community, as is access to fresh produce,” said Gina Smith, community health manager in the Office of Health Equity and Community Impact. “We want to make healthy food easily accessible, so people can pick up produce while passing through the neighborhood or coming to see their physician at Bridgeport Hospital.”

The Farm Stand is open to the whole community along with staff, patients and visitors. The first 25 customers each week will receive a five-dollar voucher, good toward a produce purchase.
The Farm Stand will accept cash, credit/debit cards, senior and WIC farmers market program incentives and SNAP/EBT benefits. The SNAP/EBT dollars will be doubled through a partnership with the Bridgeport Farmers Market Collaborative and End Hunger CT.

“These incentives will help make the Farm Stand even more affordable for customers,” said Smith.
The Farm Stand is located at 200 Mill Hill Avenue in Bridgeport and runs through Oct. 24.
