CHS BOYS CROSS COUNTRY TEAMS SEASON KICK-OFF ON SATURDAY, SEPTEMBER 9, 2023 IN WILTON, CT

The Cheshire High School Boys Cross Country Teams are on their mark, they are all set and they are ready to go for the kickoff of their Fall 2023 season which begins Saturday, September 9 for the Wilton Invitational Meet in Wilton. Race time for the freshmen race is 10 a.m Junior varsity is 10:45 a.m. and varsity 11:45 a.m.

Returning to coach the team are Head Coach Pam Gunneson and the Assistant Coach is Mike Grego. There are a total of 26 student-athletes on the three teams: Freshmen, Junior Varsity & Varsity levels according to Coach Gunneson. The quad captains for the Fall 2023 Boys Cross Country Team are seniors Tyler Caron, Daniel D'Souza, Brian Krzanowski & Jack Lengyel. Gunneson stated, “They all bring individual strengths and skills to our team and will do an excellent job leading the team.

“Our team is a positive group of kids that enjoys running and works hard to improve throughout the season. Our goal each year is to be one of the top varsity programs in the state, “ commented Gunneson.

This team began their practices on August 24th. Coach Gunneson is hopeful about her team this season stating “We have a strong group of returning runners and hope to have repeat performances like last season at the championship meets. I am excited to see how well all of the boys race at our first meet this coming Saturday, September 9th, at the Wilton Invitational.”

As a warm up for their first meet on Saturday, September 9th in Wilton five student-athletes of the CHS Boys Cross Country and their Head Coach competed in the annual New Haven Labor Day Faxon Road Race on September 4th. Tyler Caron finished with a time of 18:05, Daniel D’Souza 16:48, Brian Krzanowski 18:41, Jack Lengyel 18:08, Josh Lengyel time 24:37 and Head Coach Gunneson time 30:27
