Review of Cheshire School Budget

The budget for the 2012-13 year will be presented Thursday.

It's clear budget increases will be needed for the 2012/2013 school year in a number of areas within the Cheshire Board of Education budget. An overview of some expected increases are:

  • Teacher salary increase of 2.3 percent, or about $650,000
  • Federal jobs grant decrease of up to $650,000 to be absorbed
  • Employee benefits cost increase of about 5 percent
  • Anticipated increase in transportation costs for special education

Superintendent of Schools Greg Florio will present the entire budget for the next school year on Thursday at at 7:30 p.m.
