CL&P Will Miss Cheshire Power Restoration Deadline

Restoration schedule shows midnight deadline won't be met for many locations in state.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy said Sunday that CL&P would not meet its self-imposed goal of 99% power restoration in each city and town by midnight tonight.

The utility released a document Malloy asked for on Saturday, detailing new town-by-town restoration times. The schedule shows more than 300 customers could be without power until Tuesday.

"We're holding the utility's feet to the fire. We're going to make sure this doesn't happen again," Malloy said in his noon news conference.

“It’s now clear they are not going to meet their goal," Malloy said in the earlier statement.“The closer we got to CL&P’s self-identified goal of 99% restoration in each city and town by midnight tonight, the more skeptical I became of their ability to meet that goal."

Attorney General George Jepsen said his office will investigate whether CL&P can be sued for damages.
