East Johnson Ave Bridge Closed in Cheshire
The bridge is closed and undergoing major repairs.

Cheshire, CT - The East Johnson Avenue bridge is now closed and getting a $3 million facelift.
The bridge, which runs over the Quinnipiac River "is closed for demolition and replacement of the bridge. A portion of East Johnson Avenue will also be closed to through traffic during the construction, which is expected to be completed in December 2016. Signs will be posted for detours (Blacks Road and Route 322," the town website states.
The Republican-American reports that the bridge demo and repairs will cost approximately $3 million. Eighty percent of the project costs will be paid for through a state grant reimbursement program.

The bridge, which is 40-years-old, has been in need of repairs for some time, The Republican-American reports.
Torrington-based Hemlock Construction Company is doing the bridge construction and demo.
