Historic Banquet Facility Closes In Cheshire
The popular restaurant and banquet facility was recently sold.
CHESHIRE, CT — The historic Waverly Inn restaurant and banquet facility in Cheshire has been sold and is currently closed, ownership recently announced. The owners had announced earlier this year that they had put the facility on the market and intended to sell it to someone who would honor the Waverly tradition.
The Waverly Inn, located at 286 Maple Ave., was built in 1896 and "has been a staple in Cheshire since the 19th century," according to a post on its website (which is currently inactive). "Specializing in American fare, the experienced chefs put care and creativity into every dish. The Waverly Inn also hosts events such as wedding, baby showers, bereavements, and birthdays in its Oak and Tuscan Rooms, which can accommodate parties as small as 10 guests and as many as 150 hundred guests."
The Waverly Inn ownership recently posted a message on the banquet facility’s Facebook page to the “Cheshire community and beyond.”

“We are sad to say that the Waverly Inn has been sold and is closed for the time being,” according to the post. “As we all know things take time. All parties and reservations will be honored under the new ownership once reopened. If you have a party, the event coordinator will be reaching out to you this week. Thank you to all for your support and we will see you soon.”
