New Eatery Opening In Historic Waverly Inn Space In Cheshire: Report
The historic restaurant and banquet facility has been vacant since the Waverly Inn was sold and closed in 2019.
CHESHIRE, CT — A new Italian eatery is moving into the former Waverly Inn space, nearly five years after the historic restaurant and banquet facility closed in Cheshire, according to the Record-Journal.
The Record-Journal reports renovations began at the space at 268 Maple Ave. in March, and Il Gusto Restaurant and Wine Bar is expected to open over the summer.
Il Gusto Restaurant and Wine Bar, which will seat more than 220 people, will also host parties, meetings, and other events in the banquet room, according to the Record-Journal.

The Waverly Inn was built in 1896 and "has been a staple in Cheshire since the 19th century," according to a post on its former website.
The facility has been vacant since the Waverly Inn closed in 2019.

“We are sad to say that the Waverly Inn has been sold and is closed for the time being,” the owners wrote in a post on Facebook in May 2019 to announce the closing.
