“Mr. Bimonte’s Pizza”
The Bimonte family operated Mr. Bimonte’s Pizza, located at 155 Highland Ave., for 32 years in Cheshire and Bimonte's Pizza Castle in Hamden for the previous 23 years, according to the New Haven Register.
Kimberly Liso, stepdaughter of Mr. B's/Bimonte's late founder, Joseph Bimonte, told the Register that the restaurant closed for a variety of reasons, including increased competition in the area with new pizzerias and difficulty with hiring delivery drivers.
Liso is now working as a manager at Joey Garlic’s in Newington, according to the Register.
Fans of the Mr. Bimonte’s restaurants were saddened by the announcement of the closing.
One person wrote in the comments of the Facebook post, “We are so sad to hear this Kim! We’ve missed your pizza and wings, and I was so hopeful it was a temporary close. Wishing you all the best.”
Another person wrote, “Crushed to lose the last Bimontes Pizza Castle. Best wishes to the family, we will miss you!”
Another longtime fan wrote, “The end of an era ! Many great memories.. I wish you all the best with your future endeavors.”
