Red Means Stop: New Traffic Light in Cheshire

A new traffic light on South Meriden Road will make travel safer.

It's not often that Cheshire gets a new traffic light, but high above the intersection of South Meriden and Reservior Roads, dark green metal housings hold the familiar red, yellow and green lights of a four-way traffic signal.

Town Manager Michael Milone asked residents to be alert at the intersection. He said drivers may not yet be aware of the new light and could drive straight through a red signal.

The state Department of Transportation finished the installation this week on the busy road which is also State Route 70.
