Tanker Fire and Accident Cleared Near Cheshire
A state police chase ends when car hits fuel truck.

A tanker truck caught on fire Tuesday afternoon near the Cheshire town border in Southington after a car being chased by Connecticut State Police hit the truck. The fire caused the evacuation of residents in the area of Plantsville along state Routes 10 and 322.
Exit 3 of I-691 was closed for a time after the tanker truck, carrying 8,600 gallons of fuel caught on fire. CL&P reports at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday that more than 1,000 customers in Southington and nearly 150 in Cheshire were without power after the tanker fire damaged electrical equipment.
State Police spokseman Lt. Paul Vance said the suspect who was being chased was arrested.
